I have been a classroom teacher for 12 years. For the past 6 years, I taught at the Renzulli Academy
in Hartford, Connecticut in the following areas: 4th, 5th, and 6th
grade Social Studies and 5th and 6th grade SEM-R. I was actively involved in planning and implementing Enrichment Clusters and Type I experiences.
Before moving to Hartford in 2009, I taught all subjects for 5th grade in Phoenix for six years. One of my passions is Social Studies and I was honored to be recognized as the Connecticut Council of Social Studies’ K-8 Teacher of the Year in 2014. Each year, I facilitate National History Day and the National Geography Bee at my school and in August of 2015, I was recognized as a Distinguished K-12 Teacher of Geography by the National Council of Geographic Education. Last summer, I attended the T3G Institute in Redlands, CA where she learned more about ConnectEd, ESRI and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). I am an active member of both the Connecticut Council of Social Studies and the Connecticut Geographic Alliance.
I have had the opportunity to present at NAGC, The Arizona Gifted Conference, and the Connecticut Educator Computer Association’s annual conference about how to use technology, specifically Edmodo, to individualize and differentiate instruction for advanced learners.
In the spring of 2014, I completed the Three Summers Program at UCONN and earned my Library Media Specialist certification. I am looking forward to becoming a full time library media specialist this fall and working with students in grades 6-8.
Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions you may have!
