Planning a School Geography Bee
1. Sign up for The National Geographic Bee early in the year so you will have your materials in time. You will need to send a letter a $100.00 for registration. More specific directions can be found in the link above.

Use this example to write your own registration letter.

2. Hold a Classroom Bee to identify the top 30 students in your school that will compete in the Preliminary Bee.
(The National Geographic Society will send the materials necessary for only the School Preliminary Round and the Finals/Championship Round, so you will have to locate questions for classroom teachers to use for this level of the bee.) |

5. Schedule the National Geography Bee Final Competition--
We make it an evening school wide event! It's a great opportunity to bring more geographic awareness to school community. Students that created the posters and decorations can help set up after school and serve refreshments afterwards. It's also a good opportunity to showcase student geography work! |
